On the coldest day of the year I moved the family out to the country, bought groceries for the second household and started our housesitting responsibility.
We have nursed Will back to health from a strange virus (or so the doctors say) which lasted a week and seemed to have no reasonable explanations....which is commonly the case with Will.
I've made my own Baby food. Which isn't anything new except for the fact that this is the first baby I have exclusively fed with homemade baby food. It only took 6 kids to get it all figured out and raise the healthiest babe. Free of baby food jars.
Chase has made weekly strides at moving through out the house. First with the rocking motion which moved him 3 feet. And he thought that's all a guy needed to be satisfied. Until the second week where he found it much more satisfying to cross the room and over to the bar stools in the kitchen.

It only took a couple times of falling and hitting his head where he learned he had to hang on for dear life and cry for help. (Exhibited below)
A few days later he was the newest standing boy in the household.
Colby is admittedly the most protective of Chase and his adventures.
So, the time has come. Where the kids talk their Mom into cutting the umbilical cord and allowing them to ride the bus. Of course this is only possible when we live in the country. So I opened the opportunity to 2 days per week after school. Baby steps, right? Well, it was a hit. On the coldest week of the year the boys gave me trouble for meeting them at the end of the road to pick them up from the bus. So, on the second day, at -28, the boys happily traveled up the driveway on their own.
And it's a long walk. But I'm proud that this city boys are rugged enough to tackle the challenge.
See the little black specs? Yes, that's them. And they've traveled the distance 2 days per week since then. We love the peace and quiet of country life. I especially love allowing them out the door to play in the snow and not worrying about stranger danger.
