Costa Rica Conclusion

Logan became a regular swimmer this trip. But this particular endevour depleted the resources of buoyancy devices.

From left to Right: Colby, Quinten and Jefferson

Where they are (atop the pool house):

How they got there:

Morning Breakfast - The start to another great day.

Quinten was never keen on the shoreline of the ocean. However, he loved airplane rides which dipped his feet in the water. An effort to try and get him more comfortable. But each day we were back to square one. He's probably the only smart one out of us bunch.

SEE! I was here! This is one of two occasion snapshots by Ryan and there are a few more taken by Logan. See, not much to miss if it wasn't taken at all :o)

Mom and her twins on the beach. Life couldn't get better than this.

Will loved this personal sized hammock.

I loved this brotherly sized hammock. This was actually set-up at Bernardo's (a pub on the beach) but we were fortunate enough for Gramma to have set one up back at the house too. A favorite spot for cuddling and reading.

A beach restaurant. Quite expensive but totally worth it. We became quite spoiled of incredible prices so we had trouble digesting my oversized chicken ceasar salad for $10. Spoiled, yes! Yummy, Yes!

An overall view of the quaint place.

And this would be the second setting where pictures were taken that happened to include me. Nothing significant again, but nice to have. Especially the hug.

The Iguana that greeted us for lunch at the same classy establishment on the beach.

Here's the tired pig named Lola, whom the trendy beach cafe is named after. Normally she can be found wandering around the tables. But this day, she was tired.

A favorite for Will, next to his personal sized hammock, would be reading books with Grampa.

And reading books with Gramma.

On day 12 of 14 Will had made one last demand for Langousta. He'd been asking for days and we'd not yet delivered. So Grampa and Daddy drove to the local fisherman and bought fresh lobster (having been caught the same morning).

More CR Beach pictures that I can't seem to get enough of.

A CR beach project that Logan can't seem to get enough of. Truthfully though: with an explanation such as this - I should display a picture of Logan surfing.

Gotta Love It!

Hours of entertainment for Quinten back at the house after his nap.

Our boys - all dressed up and ready to go to our last dinner out.

One more.....

While waiting for our order the boys sat on a sofa and watched Madagascar IN Spanish.

On the way home from dinner, the twins decided to travel in the cargo compartment of the van. They loved it. They bumped their heads a number of times but still loved it.

The boys night swimming. A memory that will last a lifetime for all of us. As it was an event that occurred on our first evening in CR and on our last evening. This is a picture of our last evening.

Logan after his night swim.

Will during his night swim.

Amazingly enough, I'd never seen a cloud in Costa Rica. And on our last night we experienced a tropical downpour (so cool) and the smell was incredible. Then, on our last day at the beach (the same day we are due to depart) it mists us while we are at the beach. A fun new experience in CR. Here are the boys on our favorite beach, for the final time of 2008.

The boys loved watching the horseback riders. This was the second time we met with them on the beach this year.

While on the road to the airport I had to take a picture of the rain .... for fear we may never see it again (unless we travel in rainy season). FYI, February is dry season (not as dry as Calgary but dry for the heat produced I suppose).

Homeward bound in the CR van.

Will. Although he looks happy, he really did mention to me multiple times that he didn't want to go home.

Will took a picture of Logan outside the airport (as Ryan and I unloaded the van). It's nice that a camera can tell you what your kids were doing when you weren't paying attention :o)

I'm not sure whether this was taken by Will or Logan ... but again, it wasn't taken by me.

Our wings home. I LOVE how we can see the plane so upclose and personal AND how we walk out on the tarmack and up the stairs into the plane. It makes for an amazing arrival also as you are hit with the humid warmth of the tropics.

The finale to a great vacation.

Quinten and Colby on board the aircraft.

Logan, Dad and Will in the row in front of us.

The BEST way to travel with twins in flight at night. They fell asleep listening to music. So sweet.

We arrived in Calgary at 1am. Everyone was in pretty good spirits for the time of night it was. And we were really glad that the boys were able to sleep the majority of the way home (this meant they weren't lacking as much the next morning).

CR Fun ~ Mid Vacation

We drove to Santa Cruz (a 40 minute drive) to attend the market on Saturday. It was HOT. The twins have a few new words they've learned along the trip.
Bumpy: In reference to the roads
Empty: In reference to the 18 litre water jug we drain every day and a half.
Lunch: In reference to ALWAYS wanting to eat.
Swimming: In reference to the obvious.

Regardless of the road conditions, the little boys still managed to fall asleep on the way home from the market.

Local fisherman at sunset

Sunsets I can't get enough of them

We found another fun beach which was tame for the twins to play around in. They have been quite nervous around the big surf until now. This is another good snorkeling area. But even better, it has lots of little pools where the boys can get views of fish on their own.

I was so proud of Logan I had to share these two pictures. He's caring for Colby.

A morning walk to the beach

This overly large tree at the top of the picture is where monkies like to hang out. Haven't seen any here this year though. However, I was able to get a good picture of them in the tree right above our place just before dinner this evening. I hope to post it soon.

This is the first time being here, that I've ever seen clouds in the sky. That's why we thought it would be a little better day for a walk. The temperature is only 32 degrees as opposed to 35 (registered in the shade).

Did I say morning walk .... I really should have said RUN.

Colby and Dad

The boys are fascinated by a hermit crab that can't find a hole to hide. They walk him around and chase him around and are amazed at how long he stays visible. Yes, we also had to warn Quinten not to step on him.

Here he is. This is the best I could do.

More walking....and yes, we do have a destination, can you guess?

Careful, Colby and Dad.

Logan and Will

The only figures you see on the beach are from our family. I continue to find this amazing. This is one of the features I love most of CR. Miles and miles of beach to yourself.

I also love pictures of the surf.

Still more.

Alas, we've arrived at our destination: The Mini Super. The closest access to the best ice cream I've ever tasted. Did I mention that freezies are 10 cents? This was Colby and Quinten's choice for the day.

All Ticos LOVE to see our boys. I think it's the fair complextion and the blue eyes.

A snack in front of the Mini Super.

And then, back to the beach for our hike back.

Quinten finds a few rocks along the way that he wants to throw in the ocean.

Back to the surf.

I think they may be as intrigued as I.

Colby

The boys inching their way closer. (The curl)

(The break)

Every hard working 2.5 year old needs to work out to keep up their stamina.
Quinten and Colby in the gym.

Straight from the pool to the gym. Check out those muscles on Quinten.

Colby started this "new idea" and was pretty proud of himself.

Meanwhile, Logan continues his holiday long love affair with water. Whether it's the pool or the ocean, he's always in.

Will is our new found fish this year.
